Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
Introduction
Man and a Van Hammersmith is committed to conducting its business with integrity, fairness, and respect for human rights. This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our own operations and throughout our supply chains. It applies to all staff, contractors, and suppliers who work with or on behalf of Man and a Van Hammersmith.
Zero-Tolerance Policy
We operate a clear zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, child labour, servitude, and human trafficking. This policy is integral to our ethical standards and underpins how we select, engage, and manage relationships with our employees, agency staff, and suppliers.
All staff are expected to act with honesty and vigilance, ensuring that no practice within our business or supply chain allows for exploitation or abuse. Any breach of this policy by employees may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Any supplier found to be in breach may face suspension or termination of their contract.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Man and a Van Hammersmith provides transport, removal, and related logistics services. Our primary risks relate to the use of agency labour, vehicle-related services, and the procurement of equipment and materials necessary for our operations. We recognise that modern slavery can occur at any point in a supply chain and we are committed to identifying and managing these risks proactively.
Supplier Standards and Due Diligence
We expect all suppliers, subcontractors, and service providers to uphold the same high standards that we set for ourselves. As part of our supplier onboarding process, we assess the suitability of potential suppliers, taking into account their labour practices, working conditions, and human rights standards.
Our suppliers are required to confirm that they do not engage in, support, or tolerate any form of modern slavery or human trafficking and that they comply with all applicable employment and human rights legislation in the jurisdictions in which they operate.
Supplier Audits and Monitoring
To support our zero-tolerance approach, Man and a Van Hammersmith undertakes proportionate, risk-based monitoring of key suppliers. This may include supplier questionnaires, document reviews, site visits, and performance assessments where appropriate.
If we identify concerns, we will work with the supplier to implement corrective actions within a reasonable timeframe. Where a supplier fails to take adequate steps to address identified issues, we reserve the right to review, suspend, or terminate the relationship.
Training and Awareness
We promote awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff through internal communications and role-specific guidance. Managers and individuals involved in procurement, supplier management, and recruitment are given additional information to help them recognise indicators of exploitation and respond appropriately.
All staff are encouraged to familiarise themselves with this Statement and our internal policies on ethical conduct and whistleblowing to ensure they understand their responsibilities.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Man and a Van Hammersmith is committed to creating an environment where concerns about modern slavery or unethical practices can be raised without fear of retaliation. Employees, workers, suppliers, and other stakeholders are encouraged to report any suspicion or evidence of modern slavery in our business or supply chains.
Concerns can be raised through internal reporting channels or directly to senior management. Reports will be treated seriously, handled sensitively, and investigated promptly. We will not tolerate any form of victimisation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that combating modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility. Man and a Van Hammersmith is committed to continuous improvement in our policies, procedures, and practices to reduce the risk of exploitation.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed annually by senior management to ensure that it remains effective and up to date with changes in legislation, guidance, and our operational practices. Where necessary, we will update our approach and communicate any significant changes to our staff and suppliers.
Approval
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement has been approved by the management of Man and a Van Hammersmith and represents our commitment to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business activities and supply chains.
